5/18/20 4th, 5th, 6th Goldsworthy - Environmental Art

For this week's project, you will need:

A bag, box, or container of some sort to gather objects from nature.

Possibly a pair of scissors. I used a pair to cut some long leaves from a daffodil plant, but I could have also just ripped them up.

That's it!

Begin by watching the brief 3 minute video below, about the artist Andy Goldsworthy. Goldsworthy is an artist from the Environmental Art Movement of the '60's and '70's. His artwork is created with things from nature. He then photographs the artwork. His art is subject to wind, temperature change, animals, water... it will sometimes only last a brief moment in time.

After the video, find some time during the week to go out and collect some items from nature. Find an area outside or on a porch, where you can start to put together the things you have found in an interesting way.

Think about your composition. You should have symmetry and there should be pattern and a variety of colors and textures.

CAUTION: Please ask before picking flowers. Be careful not to pick in areas that may have poison ivy. I have some growing in my back yard already, so ask if you are not sure.
