Self Portraits:

You guys are doing great! I love all the hard work you are doing... practicing those features... eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Really nice job everyone!

"Feeling' Cute, Might Delete Later"

By Van Gogh

Now that you have finished practicing your features, you are ready to start your final portrait! Everything you need to know is on the instructions below, but here are some pointers from ME to help you along...

  • Don't forget your guide lines once you draw your oval. I know it seems strange, but your eyes are in the MIDDLE of that oval!

  • Think of your hair as one complete shape. Use the examples to help. Notice that the hair line comes down onto your FOREHEAD. You will be ERASING the top line of that oval you drew! You want that top edge of the oval to be the shape of the top of your hair/head.

  • Have fun! Don't be too serious about it! You're not Rembrandt (look him up - how many self portraits did he do?) and this is one of your first attempts. Besides, I like when we all draw from our hearts. I can tell when you are really trying and I always think those drawings look the BEST!
